Grand Challenges Funding Opportunity- Interventions to Enhance Epidemic Intelligence, Surveillance and Outbreak Response

A series of Grand Challenges grant opportunities from the Gates Foundation has been announced. A scheme of particular interest is:

Interventions to Enhance Epidemic Intelligence, Surveillance and Outbreak Response. 

This challenge is in conjunction with Grand Challenges Senegal which aims to advance the ecosystem for public health innovation in Africa. Grand Challenges Senegal will deploy grant funding to test new ideas led by innovators working in the region and African scientists in the diaspora with a focus on the ECOWAS region.  The purpose of this call is to solicit proposals from innovators working across Africa and African scientists in the diaspora on interventions to enhance epidemic intelligence, surveillance, and outbreak response. Up to 8 proposals will be supported with grants of $50,000 over a period of 18 months. A second call for proposals will be launched in October 2023. Projects must be based in Senegal but can have a component in another African country. Application deadline is January 31 2023 12.00 GMT.
