Typhoid TCV Mass Vaccination Campaign is launched in DRC

10th February 2022 By //  by ca392

On 10th February 2022 the mass vaccination campaign was launched and vaccination have started in the Kisantu Health Zone. The first vaccinations are being administered at the biggest health centre, Nkandu 1, and then will be rolled out to a further nineteen health centres. This important milestone for TyVECO and the fight to protect children from typhoid in DRC is the culmination of a lot of hard work from the team at INRB in Kinshasa and colleagues in Kisantu.

Many dignitaries from the Province and health zone attended the launch and gave speeches at the event including the Provincial Minister of Health of the Kongo Central province, the Head of Kisantu Health Zone and the Territorial Administrator of Madimba, one of the areas served by a health centre where vaccinations will be offered to children aged 9 months to 16 years.

The team has been very busy delivering training to the vaccination staff and mobilisers have been active in the community alerting the population to the the mass vaccination campaign and the importance of bringing their children for vaccination. We wish the team every success in this important initiative.
